Shuttler Sindhu crashes out of China Open


Fuzhou (China), Nov 9 (IANS): Rio Olympic silver medallist P.V. Sindhu crashed out of the China Open badminton tournament, going down in the women's singles quarter-final here on Friday.

The eighth seed He Bingjiao of China defeated World No. 3 Indian player 21-17, 17-21, 21-15 in a marathon 69-minute match. Third seed Sindhu lost the first game but bounced back in the second game to take the match in the decider.

In the third game, there was no match of the Chinese shuttler as Sindhu was overpowered easily. Later in the day, fifth seed Kidambi Srikanth will face fourth seed Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in men's singles match while Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will take on Mohammad Ahsan Hendra Settiawan of Indonesia in men's doubles match.
