New Delhi, Nov 11 (Agencies) : Its a bad day for the national carrier Air India as one more international flight of the airline got delayed on Sunday. AI Bangkok-bound Flight 332 had to return to base as the co-pilot missed his pre-flight breath analyser (BA) test for alcohol.
Earlier, Air India flight AI 111 to London was delayed after senior pilot Arvind Kathpalia tested 'positive' for alcohol on the BA. Air India apprised the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of Kathpalia's case and he has been grounded pending an investigation.
Kathpalia failed the test for a second time on Sunday (November 11), he was earlier tested 'positive' for alcohol on January 19, 2017.
Pilots turning drunk for work is not a new phenomenon in India. A 2018 report said as many as 132 aviators were found to be drunk in the pre-flight breath analyser test in the last three years.
