Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Nov 17: K C Hamza (42), contractor from Muliyar Mastikundu in Kasargod district, who is the prime accused in the case pertaining to the murder of the family's housemaid Safiya (15) in Goa, was denied bail for the third time by the Kasargod first class magistrate's court.

The public prosecutor, who strongly opposed the bail petition, argued that the accused, if granted bail, might influence witnesses to favour him and also might abscond.

Hamza's wife Maimoona, Moidu Haji from Ayyangeri and Arikkadi Abdulla have been granted bail in this case already. The fifth accused, Gopalakrishnan, who was working as assistant sub-inspector of police in Adoor police station, has not yet been traced.
