UP MLA Ram Govind Chowdhary critical

Gurugram, Nov 12 (IANS): Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Ram Govind Chowdhary, who was flown in from Madhya Pradesh after he suffered a cardiac arrest, continues to be "very critical", a doctor at the Medanta hospital here said on Monday.

The 65-year-old veteran Samajwadi Party (SP) leader suffered "sudden onset of breathlessness" while in Jhansi on Sunday where he was campaigning for the Assembly polls.

The former Child Development Minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government was first treated at a medical facility in Jhansi and put on a ventilator before being flown to Medanata late on Sunday.

He is being attended to by a team headed by cardiovascular and cardio-thoracic surgeon Naresh Trehan.

"Chowdhary's condition continues to be very critical," said A.K. Dubey, the medical superintendent of Medanta.
