Udupi: Puttige Swamiji Inaugurates State-Level Yogasana Competitions

The recommendations of the Nadiger Committee on Vaidyanathan’s report related to physical education and the subsequent committee report on curriculum, will be implemented within a month of its receipt, said Capt Ganesh Karnik, vice-president, NRI unit, on Wednesday November 19.
 
Capt Karnik was speaking after presiding over the inaugural of the state-level yoga competitions for students of pre-university and vocation courses, at Sri Krishna Math Rajangan on Wednesday.
 


Sri Sugunendrateerta Swami of Paryaya Puttige Math, after inaugurating the event said  that yoga improves memory, hearing, and all round health. Study is incomplete without yoga, he added. At last, yoga has got its due importance and has been acknowledged globally for its curative benefits, he said.

Yoga is a treasure of India and it is essential to inculcate culture along with studies and yoga, said the Swamiji.  The Sri Krishna Math has appointed yoga teachers in 120 schools where the ‘Akshara Dasoha’ (mid-day meals) project has been introduced, he informed.
 
MLAs Lalaji R Mendon and Raghupathy Bhat, G S Nayak, pre-university education department officer, B M Ramakrishna Hatwar, Kundapur entrepreneur, B Sitaram Tolpadittaya, secretary, Dharmasthala Shanti Vana Trust, M R Keshavamurti, president, district pre-university college principals’ association, D Manjunatayya, block education officer, Laxminarayan Chatra, principal, Vidhyodaya Pre-Univesity College, Sitaram Vittal Shetty, Ashok Poojary, Ravindra Shetty Nitte, and Vishwanath Bayari, sports administrator, pre-university education department, were present on the dais.
 
C Suresh Tunga, principal, Government Women’s Pre-University College, welcomed the gathering.  Around 320 students are participating in the two-day state-level competitions.
