Kundapur, Nov 16: The leopard which created panic among the residents of Kakkeri of Salvadi in the taluk is finally got trapped in the cage placed by the forest department.
The people of Kakkeri had seen the leopard running around in search of food for some days. The forest department officials who got the information about the same from the locals, had kept the cage and tied a dog as bait and were waiting to catch the leopard since a week.
On the morning of Friday, November 16, the locals who saw the leopard got trapped in the cage, informed the same to the forest department officials. The officials of the forest department arrived at the spot and took the six-year-old male leopard and sent into the wild life zone.
DFO Prabhakaran, ACF Lohith, RFO, Prabhakar Kulal, subdivisional forest officer Uday, Somashekar and driver Ashok took part in the operation of sending the caught leopard to the wildlife zone.
