Udupi, Nov 21: The district-level progressive farmer award, instituted by Mandarti Service Cooperative Bank and also the Corporation Bank Agricultural Award instituted by Corporation Bank, were conferred on Sri Durga Farmers Service Union secretary and farmer K Shambhushankar Rao by chief minister B S Yeddyurappa at the Agricultural Fair organized at Bangalore Hebbal Agricultural  Science Centre, recently.

Ministers Katta Subrahmanya Naidu, Shobha Karandlaje, vice-chancellor of the university, governing council members, Dr M Mahadevappa and MLA Krishnabhyre Gowda were present.

Shambhushankar Rao has served as the director of Mandarti Service Cooperative Bank, secretary of Farmers Service Union, president of the Milk Producers Cooperative Society and various organizations and institutions in different capacities. He is engaged with raising mixed crop, dairying, earthworm manure and organic farming.
