Mangalore Nov 21: A mass Goddess Mahalakshmi puja and Navodaya Chaitanya convention are being organized by Navodaya Grama Vikas Charitable Trust at Patnashetty Maidan in Karkala on Saturday November 22 at 9 am.

The Chaitanya convention, scheduled to start at 11 am, will be inaugurated by M Veerappa Moily, chairman, Administrative Reforms Commission. Lalitakeerti Swamiji of the Jain Math in Karkala will deliver the benedictory speech on the occasion.

A G Kodgi, Third State Finance Commission chairman will release the ' Navavikasa' souvenir being brought out on the occasion..

Raju Poojary, Udupi zilla panchayat president, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple Brahmakalashotsava Committee working president  and P Narayan Kamat, managing director, South Canara District  Central Co-operative Bank Ltd will participate as chief guests.

The concluding ceremony of the traditional beauty contest will be held at the same venue from 6 pm onwards.

Santosh Kumar, deputy superintendent of police Karkala, will hand over awards to the winners of ' Navodaya cheluva-cheluvi 2008' contest on the occasion.
