Mangaluru, Nov 18: ‘Kala-Sangam 2018’, a cultural event with a series of competitions, organised by Mangalore Musical and Cultural Association (MMCA) concluded with an award ceremony at Gitanjali, Lower Bendore here on Saturday, November 17, 2018.
The finals of several fine art competitions were organized over the past few days. The prizes for the winners were awarded at the ceremony.
MMCA conferred ‘Service with Smile' award on Lydia D’Souza and Irene Serrao. The 'Kala Ratna Award' (Swarun Smaranjali) was conferred on Mohan Raj. MMCA’s ‘Guardian Angel Award’ was conferred on Shona Monteiro. ‘Bhandutva Award’ for human relations was conferred on A M Narahari and Udaya Kumar.
Sr M Roshan was honoured for her meritorious services to the society by encouraging and moulding the student community. Capt Hugh Vas and Dorothy Vas, former MLA J R Lobo and Philomena Lobo were awarded ‘Good Samaritan’ in the couple’s category. In priests and religious category Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza and Fr Pius D’Souza were honoured with Good Samaritan award.
Children from various schools entertained the audience with a colourful cultural programme on the occasion.
Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop emeritus, Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, director of St Joseph Engineering College, Fr Pius D’Souza among others were present.
