Mangaluru: Robbers snatch gold chain from lady in broad daylight

Mangaluru, Nov 23: In a shocking incident that occurred at 5 pm on Thursday, November 22 at Shivabhag in city, two scooter-borne robbers snatched the gold chain from the neck of a lady.

The robbers are said to be around 25 to 30 years of age and were wearing helmet during the crime. They snatched the chain from the neck of Maria Pinto (59), wife of Rolfy Pinto, resident of Kadri, Shivabhag. The value of the gold chain, which was weighing 20 grams, is said to be Rs 60,000.

This incident took place when Maria was returning home from the cemetery near the ESI hospital at Kadri, Shivabhag after partaking in the funeral of her neighbour, Urban Nazareth. It is said that the robbers arrived in a silver colour Honda Activa scooter. The registration number of the scooter is not known.

Police are on the lookout for the miscreants.

    There are a large number of 2 and 4 wheelers moving in the city, without number plates, temporary number plates and defective number plates, which is illegal, and police are not able to track them. Also second hand vehicles are not transferred to the new owners name. The police should launch a special drive against these vehicles. Today it is chain snatching, tomorrow it could be a bigger crime.

    @Monti doto mangalore,when the two wheelers or any other second hand vehicles are not registered from buyers,means still in previous owners name?cant the first owner when sold to others just do the registering off ?and to whoom he sold?otherwise the first owner have to hold his head for any possible criminlity .In prinzip we do so here and for taxes and insurances.
