Gauri Lankesh murder: SIT names Sanatan Sanstha in additional chargesheet

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Nov 24: A network within Sanatan Sanstha has targeted Gauri Lankesh for no personal reasons, states an additional chargesheet filed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) before the Principal Civil and Sessions court in Bengaluru on Friday.

The 9,235 page chargesheet states that Sanatan Sanstha was planning to kill Lankesh for almost five years.

Special Public Prosecutor S Balan tells media, that though Lankesh and the killer had no personal enmity, it was the certain ideology she wrote and spoke about that led to her murder.

SIT which had filed the first chargesheet last May, has now sought permission to investigate the case further.

As of now, 18 people including shooter Parashuram Waghmare, masterminds Amol Kale, Sujith Kumar alias Praveen and Amit Degwekar are accused of killing Gauri Lankesh on September 5, 2017 outside her house. Lankesh was known for her left-leaning and strong anti-Hindutva views.

The same gang’s involvement is suspected in murder of rationalists M M Kalburgi, Narendra Dhabholkar and Govind Pansare.

Meanwhile Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara on Saturday said the state government would soon take a call on banning the organisations involved in the killing of noted journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh. Speaking to reporters here, Parameshwara said, "No discussions have taken place regarding the organisations involved in the crime, but shortly we will take a decision on that."

Declare Sanatan Sansta as terrorist organisation, seal + confiscate its offices + assets and arrests its leaders for inhuman killing of innocents. Capital punishment should be given to the founder + operators of this terrorist organisation. Its shame that such a devil organisation is existing in India with knowledge to Govt.

In a startling revelation, a former police officer investigating the role of Sanatan Sanstha in the Margao bomb blasts case has said that journalist Gauri Lankesh would have been alive if the state’s BJP-led government had acted on his advice to ban the organisation.
CL Patil, who was posted at the Ponda Police Station as SHO and investigated the case, told India Today that he had recommended banning the Hindutva outfit but his suggestion was shot down by his bosses in the police dept.
Patil added that the wife of one of the powerful ministers in Goa’s ruling coalition was part of the Sanstha. India Today said it was withholding the identity of the minister since it was awaiting a response from him. He’s a senior cabinet colleague of CM Manohar Parrikar. Patil said, “His wife and sister-in-law run Sanatan Sanstha.”
Acquitted of their alleged role in bomb blasts outside Maharashtra theatres in 2008, two sadhaks of the militant Hindutva outfit also made startling confessions to India Today TV’s special investigation team about their involvement in the terror attacks.
Hindutva outfit planned to assassinate 30 more people included Siddharth Varadarajan of The Wire website, journalist Antara Dev Sen, Chaman Lal, a professor in Hindi translation at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Punjabi playwright Atamjit Singh and 26 people from different states.
In a statement issued after filing the charge sheet in the special KCOCA court, the SIT sought the court’s permission to investigate further. The charge sheet, according to the Indian Express, has named 37-year-old Amol Kale, 37, a former Pune convenor of the militant Hindutva outfit Sanatan Sanstha-affiliated Hindu Janajagruti Samiti as the prime accused in the murder plot allegedly executed by Parashuram Waghmare. 26-year-old Waghmare is a member of Sri Rama Sena.
CM Parikkar government which acquited 11 terror suspects of Margaon blast directly responsible for Lankesh and others.
