Dubai: Two-day Vishwa Tulu Sammelana concludes in grand fashion

Dubai, Nov 25: “Tuluvas must get rid of caste system and live with unity. Tuluvas do not go after money but they look up to living with love and brotherhood. One can become rich if it is written in their fate to which I am the right example. Let us live with unity and I will meet Prime Minister requesting him to add Tulu language in the 8th schedule of the constitution,” said NMC group head Padmashree Dr B R Shetty.

He was addressing the gathering during the valedictory ceremony of two-day World Tulu Sammelana held in Dubai on November 24.

Udupi Puttige math swamiji Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji, Shri Gurudevadatta Samsthana Shri Dattaguru Viranjaneya Swamiji, Odiyur math Gurudevananda swamiji, Shridhama Manila Shri Mahalaxmi Shri Mohandas Paramhamsa swamiji,  Rev Abinazer Jattanna from CSI, Abusalam Puttige, Muslim religious leader, senior writer Dr Sunitha M Shetty from Mumbai, Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty, music director Guru Kiran, Karnataka Tulu Academy president A C Bhandary, Akhila Bharat Tulu Okkuta president Dharmapal U Devadiga were chief guests.

On the occasion, Padmabhushan Rajashree Dr D Veerendra Heggade was felicitated.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Heggade said, "Let us remember these two days where I felt I am at home. Let this sammelan help develop our Tulunadu."

Puttige math swamiji also wished success to Tuluvas on the occasion. Bishop Jattanna handed over Tulu Bible to B R Shetty during the valedictory programme.

Writer Sunitha Shetty said that it was a world all religion conference. "Tulu should be made second language in Karnataka. We need to also celebrate Tulu day in a year," she said.

Sarvotham Shetty Abu Dhabi welcomed the gathering and Shodhan Prasad gave congratulatory speech. On the occasion 'Vishwa Tulu Isiri' by B K Ganesh Rai was released.

Harish Rai, Karnur Mohan Rai, Ashok Pakkala introduced the guests. B R Shetty and Sarvotham Shetty honoured the guests with mementos. Kadri Navneeth Shetty comepered and rendered vote of thanks.

There were Tulu seminars by Dr B A Vivek Rai, Professor Tukaram Poojary, Dayanand Kattalsar, Dr Ganesh Amin, Kudi Vasanth Shetty. Tulu Kavigoshti was held too by Dr Y NN Shetty, Prakash Rao Payyar, Irshad Moodbidri, Gopinath Rao, Usha Nagabhushan and others.

Chakrapani team of Suresh Attavar, Yakshamitraru Dubai Mandali, Girish Narayan's Pilinalike team, Prasanna Kaup and Umesh Mijar teams of Bale Telpale fame, Satish Shetty Patla and team, Pramod Kumar's team entertained the audience with Rasamanjari, Tulunada Gobbulu, Naatya Ayona, drama, Yakshagana, comedy skits on the occasion. Kadri Navneeth Shetty and Sahil Rai compered the cultural programme.

During the convention, the guests were greeted traditionally and were served traditional food items prepared by Devesh Alva Dubai and team.
