Hassan: Hoisting of flags - friction between members of different communities

Hassan, Nov 26: On the issue of hoisting of religious flags, differences arose between people belonging to two communities at Chennarayapatna town in the district on the night of Sunday November 25. An auto rickshaw, eight motor bikes, and a Maruti van were damaged in this incident.

Police resorted to caning the protesters. A few were injured as the crowd began to pelt stones at houses and business establishments. The situation is reported to be tense.

Contingents of Karnataka State Reserve Police have been deployed to control the situation and bring law and order situation into control.

Some youngsters from one community were tying saffron flags on the temple road in Ganiga Street at Chennarayapatna. Some members of another community objected to hoisting of saffron flags adjacent to the green flags they had planted on Friday on account of Eid Milad. They demanded for the saffron flags to be removed, which gave rise to fight between the two groups as the other group was not ready to accede to this demand, it is gathered.

    I would request both the communities to discontinue this practice of show of strength through flags and help the needy people who don't have anything cover their bodies.
    I request every Kannadigas to be highly vigilant in the coming days in the run up the Lok Sabha election there are more troubles on the table.

    Our Karnataka doesn't need another 'Godhra' or 'Muzzafararnagr' in the name of religious politics over the heads of hundreds killed.

    Few years back there is no issue in hoisting saffron flags. Now every where tense and called as sensitive areas. Just wait another 30 years. There is nowhere saffron flags in this world???????????????

    There should be time bound validity for hoisting flags in public places. Rampantly fixing flags should stop .

    Both the community people do not practice their religion as mentioned in their scriptures. Please ban hoisting of all types of flags except tricolor.

    Flag issues never bring happiness to common people, it brings misery to all. Ofcourse the only people who will benefit will be the politicians but do remember they are only counting on their own kitty while a common man fights in the street for no reason. Think about it before doing foolish act.

    people don't want to know whether their religion support hoisting flag & procession. but they will do that bcoz other religion people are doing that. but at the end they says that our religion says like this & that. what is the use in that if you are not follow that.

    Jobless / Crazy youth. Nothing can be achieved by hoisting flag of any community.
    Apply religion in life and spread its beauty by living, inspire people by good behaviour and deeds.. Don't do stupid things on road it's never entertained by any faith.
