Modi must exercise due restrain in public speech: Manmohan

New Delhi, Nov 26 (IANS): The quality of political discourse in the country has hit a rock bottom and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urged his successor Narendra Modi on Monday to exercise "due restrain" in public speech.

Singh was grilled during the launch of Manish Tewari's book "Fables of Fractured Times" to comment on the new pitfalls in the language used by politicians across party lines.

"My advise to the Prime Minister is to exercise due restrain that is becoming of a Prime Minister. When the PM goes to states that are not ruled by the BJP, he has an obligation to not use the language that has now become common practise," he said.

Singh said that he and his Congress-led UPA government never discriminated in the fashion that the Modi dispensation is carrying out on a daily basis.

"We never discriminated against the BJP ruled states. (Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister) Shivraj Singhji would himself testify to this. We paid the respect that was deserving," he said.

He urged Modi to set an example.

"He is the Prime Minister of all Indians. His conduct must be worthy and consistent with the obligation he has as a PM," Singh said at the launch of the book from Konark Publishers.

Modi became PM just by disguising and false promises.
His way of insulting opposition and Gandhi/Nehru family shows his attitude and the culture in which he grew up and gained popularity.
He got the right treatment when Raj Baaber gave an example involving his mother's age for Rupee value against USD. Since five years he bombarded worst of words against all those leaders who built India and are no more. Such criticism about others was giving peace of mind and now all of sudden he acts innocent and saintly. Rolling crocodile tears and exposing his hurt feeling in election speeches is nothing but just for gaining public support that’s all.

There's a day and night difference between the discourses of these two prime ministers. MM Singh has a thought, vision, dignity and decorum in what he says. He is worthy of PM's post and has maintened its dignity. Modi's speeches are nothing but rhetoric that have only hatred, lies, religious polarization. In fact, he has lowered the dignity of that post by stooping himself down to low level discourses. A thinking citizen will not fall a prey to this man.

It is not the nature of PM Modi to listen to any advice. The criticism he leveled against Manmohan as opposition leader were civilised comments. Even after becoming PM of the country his language has not changed. But if someone else criticises him, he would analyse that criticism to derive political mileage. He did it with John Michael Lyngdo. Even he called Manmohan a traitor conspiring against the country. But sensible people will definitely understand and judge him.

Modi is crying like kindergarten kids.Even after 4.6 yrs he still blaming congress for everything .Yesterday's drama is like he blaming congress on ayodhya issue's, congress warning to supreme Court judges to delay on hearing. If it is true then what is government doing in centre.they are running government with full majority and they can't tackle the congress who got only 44.

Dear MMS, BJP is a party with a difference. Talking bullshit and faking in public media is thier only development and strength. A real practical development by BJP on ground will never be seen. People are calling BJP FEKU for a reason after all.

King/Ruler should command respect and not demand respect. With cheap & fake talk one cannot command respect. We don't want India to be an autocratic country, though symptoms are already there !
