Mangaluru: Woman alleges rape attempt at Bengre beach, complaint filed

Mangaluru, Nov 26: Seven unidentified people allegedly tried to gang rape a woman at Bengre beach last week.

According to the victim’s complaint to the police, filed on Monday, November 25, at Women’s police station in the city, the woman from Bantwal visited Bengre beach with a youth last week. A group of seven men approached the couple, thrashed the youth and tried to gang rape the woman.

Hearing the woman screaming for help, locals gathered. The group of seven then fled away.

Police have already started investigation and launched a manhunt for the culprits. Six suspects have been already taken by the police into custody for questioning.
