Happy with my 'villainous' image: Anupam Shyam

Mumbai, Nov 27 (IANS): Known for playing negative characters on the big screen and in television shows, veteran actor Anupam Shyam says he is happy with his villainous image among the audience.

"Being an antagonist is more difficult than portraying the role of a hero. It involves a lot of research and study of human psychology. I am happy to play negative roles in my projects... I have no regrets. I don't want to change my negative image. I am happy with it," Anupam told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

After playing characters with grey shades in movies like "Bandit Queen" and "Shakti: The Power" and gaining fame on the television platform for his role as Sajjan Singh in "Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya", Anupam has recently made a comeback on TV with StarPlus show "Krishna Chali London".

In the show, he essays the negative character of Lambodar Shukla.

Excited upon returning to TV after four years, the 61-year-old said: "Small screen is very close to my heart... It always feels good to work in a TV show as it improves my calibre as an actor and I get to work with a slew of young actors every time."

Anupam also spoke about his equation with the young actors on the show.

"Though I am in the industry for a long time, but it does not mean that I will not get to learn something from the next-gen. These kids have made me learn so much on the set. Sometimes they also approach me for advice," he added.
