People would need visa for Hyderabad if not for Patel: PM Modi

Mahabubnagar (Telangana), Nov 27 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said had there been no Sardar Patel, people would have required a Pakistani visa to go to Hyderabad.

Addressing an election rally here, Modi recalled the role played by India's first home minister in merger of then Hyderabad State with the Indian Union.

"It is because of Sardar Patel that we are today saying 'Bharat Mata ki Jai,' he said.

He reiterated that if Patel had been India's first Prime Minister, then the condition of farmers would not have deteriorated to such an extent.

Modi said BJP remained committed to doubling farmers' income by 2022. He said the second dream of the party was to ensure that every family in the country has its own house by 2022.

He said the government would not only build these houses but ensure water, electricity and gas connections along with the toilet facility.

Without naming Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM), Modi said some people who talk 'anaap shanap' (rubbish) have stated that all the governments formed in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana had to bow before them.

"You fought for self-respect. You need a chief minister who will never agree to bow before anybody except people of his state," Modi said.

He alleged that Congress and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) have colluded. He said they were engaged in shadow boxing because they have common goal and have the same character.

Modi said both the parties were family-centric and resort to casteism and vote bank politics. He said while four generations of Congress grabbed power after India became independent, the TRS rose to power in Telangana for five years after it became a separate state.

The Prime Minister said Congress pitted Hindus and Muslims against each other, one caste against another and towns against villages. He said if TRS was passing edicts for minority reservations, the Congress had been doing this for long.

Blaming Congress for killing Telangana youth fighting for their state, Modi asked people not to allow the party to enter their state. He people should vow not to elect even one candidate of Congress.

Targeting TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, the BJP leader asked people of Telangana if their struggle was for the welfare and prosperity of one family.

Stating that KCR had failed to fulfil the promises, Modi said if he was given power for another five years, he would do nothing new.

Modi doesn't know that Patel was only a minister in the govt. of Mr.Nehru, who was the first PM of India.

Modi is only interested to wipe out the history of Nehru, and his achievements.

I would also like to remind Narendra Damodra Modi, that it is former PM Mrs.Indira Gandhi, who created a new nation called Bangla Desh, by snatching East Pakistan from West Pakistan as well

Patel did not do any favor to anyone, He was the home minister and it was his job to unify the country and he was paid salary to do it by the Citizens. Fighting a war to unify country or keeping country secure and corruption free is the job of every Citizen. Millions of people have done it through out the history.

It is worthwhile to recall that the deity of Lord Padmanabha in the sacred Ananthasayanam temple in Thiruvananthapuram was cited before Sardar Patel by Dewan of Travancore of the princely State, Sir CP Ramaswami Iyer, to frustrate Sardar's attempts to unify India and make Travancore an integral part of the Indian Union. He told Sardar that it was not in the realm of possibility to merge Travancore with the Indian Union as the sovereign authority of the princely State rested with Lord Padmanabha who could not be subordinated to the Indian Union.
The wise Sardar countered him and asked a sharp question as to how the mighty rulers of Travancore allowed Lord Padmanabha to occupy an insignificant position owing allegiance to the British authorities. President of India late KR Narayanan while unveiling statue of Sardar Patel in front of the Central Hall of the Parliament on 14th August 1998 stated that the arguments and methods adopted by Sardar Patel for integration of princely States were manifold and effective and insightfully observed that when "Sir CP Ramaswamy Iyer, held out the argument that no one could negotiate a merger of the State with India as Travancore was ruled "in the name and on behalf of the tutelary deity, Sri Padmanabha", the Sardar snapped with a twinkle in his eye "Is that so? Then please tell me how Travancore rulers could allow Lord Padmanabha to become subservient to the British Crown?".
When people talk of precedence of faith over a law, they should be mindful of Sardar Patel’s example, who didn’t hesitate to foil attempts of Travancore rulers to invoke a Hindu deity to not join India.
Perhaps very few people in India know the history of Travancore ruler who wished to join his Kingdom with British Raj.
Forget about menstruating women entering the Sabarimala temple, even PM Modi may require visa like Hyderabad for Travancore.
There are more than 562 princely states in India at the end of the British Raj who wished to remain part of it.

Prime Minister Modi who studied 'Entire political science' subject from Delhi University without any honorary degree in hand don't know much about an integration of India of the 562 princely states.

Before the Partition of India in 1947, 562 Princely States, also called Native States, existed in India, which were not fully and formally part of British India, the parts of the Indian subcontinent which had not been conquered or annexed by the British but under indirect rule, subject to subsidiary alliances.
The Forgotten Architect of Modern India would have not materialized if Vappala Pangunni Menon, Madras Presidency, British Raj (Present day Kerala) is not worked with Sardar Patel.
V P Menon was the Constitutional Adviser to the last three Viceroys during British rule in India. He was the only Indian in Mountbatten’s inner team. Menon’s plan for the partition of India into two Dominions was the one which was eventually adopted. It was Menon who realised the need to get the Princely States to accede to India before the date of independence and that Mountbatten was the ideal person to facilitate this. Following independence, when the communal violence began, Menon asked Mountbatten to take charge. Menon and Sardar Patel later achieved the full integration of the Indian States. Menon has never received the recognition he deserved for his contributions and this paper is intended to highlight Menon’s role during this crucial period in Indian history and to draw attention to his views on events and personalities.
It may not worth building one statue of Sardar Patel in Gujarat without V.P.Menon. India without V.P.Menon may have need 562 visas to travel within India.

FYI, Modi Feku this is called scoring self goal. You are crediting congress by this statement. Actually congress should have boasted about it long ago but congress has even better than this like doing the ultimate sacrifice of ones own life. This one congress can lend it to you as you are terribly lacking if it can improve your image. Enjoy, as you have a habit of copying from congress and labelling your name on it.

Whatever Patel did while unifying the country, he did it as a Home Minister in the cabinet of Jawarharlal Nehru. Nehru and Patel worked in tandem in the govt of that time whatever difference of opinion they might have had. This man now tries unsuccessfully to separate those two great leaders only to gain some personal advantage. People definitely see through this nefarious intention. Patel was a Congress leader and continued to be one till his death.
