Mangaluru: Artspire brings out talents of St Agnes students

Media Release

Mangaluru, Nov 29: With an aim to encourage talents, St Agnes College (autonomous) organised ‘Artspire – 2018’ an intra-collegiate fest of students pursuing the Arts stream.

The mega event was inaugurated by St Agnes College principal Dr Sr Jeswina AC along with dean of Arts Dr Shailaja Rai and Artspire coordinator and Political Science HoD Chandramohan Marathe.

In her inaugural address, the principal spoke on the importance of using opportunities. She raised concern that the present generation is too engrossed in mobile phones and social media and asked students never to get deviated from their goal and never to be shy in showcasing their talents.

The one day fiesta consisted of six events such as fancy dress, mockpress, twist in the tale, case analysis, quiz and retro dance. Students studying the arts stream were divided into nine teams and each team was named after a river.

The nine teams gave each other tough competition. With fancy dress the students dressed up as interesting characters, while mockpress was a grilling round where students dressed up as celebrities and had to face the media. The twist in tale was retelling fairy tales with a twist, while case analysis and quiz brought out the aptitude of the students. Through retro dance the students gave the audience a flavour of the yesteryears.

Team Hemavathi emerged as overall champions. The students from the team were Silvi, Kavitha, Sarah, Sushma, Soniya, Mehra, Carol, Michelle, Ankita and Anitt. They were presented with the Artspire trophy by vice principal Sr Venissa AC during the valedictory.
