New Delhi, Nov 29 (IANS): After former cricketer-turned-politician and state minister Navjot Singh Sidhu was seen alongside pro-Khalistani activist Gopal Singh Chawla during his visit to Pakistan, a BJP MLA here on Thursday asked Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh whether they will sack Sidhu.
Attacking Gandhi for earlier questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's photograph with fugitive diamond jeweller Nirav Modi wanted in the Rs 13,500 crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case, Manjinder Singh Sirsa said: "In a group photo, Modiji was clicked with Nirav Modi and Rahul Gandhi made it a big issue.
"What he has to say now on the photograph of Sidhu?"
"Either Rahul Gandhi should apologise to Modiji or sack Sidhu," he said.
"Captain Amarinder Singh declined to visit Pakistan because Pakistan supports anti-India and anti-Punjab activities, but his own minister Sidhu goes against his wish and gets clicked with Chawla, a close aide of Hafiz Saeed (Lashkar-e-Taiba founder) and an anti-India person.
"Would Captain Sahab sack his irresponsible Minister," Sirsa tweeted along with a picture of Sidhu and Chawla.
Sidhu visited Pakistan for the ground-breaking ceremony of the long-awaited Kartarpur Corridor that will link Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur in India with the Kartarpur gurdwara, where Guru Nanak Dev spent the last 18 years of his life.
The event was also attended by Indian Union Ministers Harsmirat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri.
At the ceremony, Sidhu heaped praises on former cricketer and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, referring to him as a "farishta (angel)" at the function.
He also said the event offered a big possibility for ending violence that has strained ties between the two countries stressing that religion should not be linked to politics or seen from the prism of terror.
