Karkala, Nov 30: The police, who intensified their hunt for cattle thieves after a large scale protest was held at Mudrady against the failure of the police in finding out people behind large scale theft of cattle, on Thursday November 29, found out details about the thieves behind certain thefts.

The information the police have collected now on the thieves, relates to theft of a number of cows from Hebri area including six milking cows from the cattle shed belonging to Dogu Poojary at Mudrady.

Mohammed Arif

During the protest, various leaders had threatened to lay siege to the police station if the police failed to nab the thieves involved with cattle thefts within four days.

The police got information about the thieves from Mohammed Arif, who was caught on Wednesday from near Waranga for planning robbery. Mohammed Arif and his five accomplices had come together to intercept people moving on the road at Soorimannu in Waranga village, and rob them of their belongings. Karkala police circle inspector, Halamurthy Rao and Hebri station house officer, Mahabala Shetty, raided the spot with their personnel and arrested Mohammed Arif.

During this arrest, knife and chilli powder had been seized from his possession. Other accused who were on the spot, Abdul Razak alias Daddu Razak Alangar, Muhammed Ansar Todar, Rafiq Karkala, Asif alias 3D Asif, and Umar Farooq had escaped in a Ridge car during the said raid.

During the questioning of Arif, the police came to know about the men behind theft of cattle. Arif told the police that the five persons who escaped from the police during the current raid had stolen cows from the cattle shed of Dogu Poojary Mudrady with assistance from Suresh Poojary from Chara village.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of district superintendent of police, Laxman Nimbargi, and additional superintendent of police, Kumar Chandra.

Such people disrespect whole community & bring enimosity between communities whereas it is simple case of theft without fear due to laxity of law enforcers & politicians. Things have gone so far that they fearlessly fill scorpios with cattle at night as well as steal pepper areca right from yards. When spotted by yellow board drivers returning home midnight they have been warned showing machettes. If law is enforced like in other modern countries all problems will be solved.

    jossey sir,

whoever done the crime but he should be punished. don't justify the act by giving examples. at the same time don't support the thieves based on their religion or caste.

you are justifying 1000 crimes by highlighting 1 crime. this is not correct. why we need to justify the cow theft. everytime we are doing the same mistake. that is the reason this kind of cow theft cases are increasing day by day. bcoz the thieves know some people are supporting them.
