Udupi: Trinity Central School celebrates decennial annual children, parents sports meet

Udupi, Dec 5: The most awaited decennial annual sports meet was recently held for the students of Grade III to X on the grounds of Trinity Central School.

The formal programme commenced with a prayer song seeking God’s blessings on all the participants, after which a welcome note was delivered by Aaron from Grade X.

The chief guests for the sports meet was Raymond D’Souza (Mr World 1990 in the Body Building Championship) and Dr Deepak Ram Bairy (Physical Education director, Sharada Pre-University College Udupi). Fr Anil D’Costa (principal), Fr Ravi Rajesh (treasurer and administrator), Magdalena Lewis (academic co-ordinator) and Archana Shetty (pre-primary section head) accompanied the dignitaries on the dais.



The event began by hoisting the school sports flag by aymond D’Souza and thereafter the school anthem was sung by the school choir.

The Olympic torch which symbolizes light of spirit, knowledge and life was carried in relay procession and was finally handed over to the sports minister Sandesh from Grade IX, who along with chief guests lit the flame of peace and harmony on the school ground.

This was followed by a march past led by the SPL Gameliel and ASPL Melani, the units of cubs and bulbuls, scouts and guides and finally by five vibrant houses namely, Spoleto, Rivotorto, Assisi, Greccio and Laverna who stepped in unison and in discipline marching to drum beats.

The decennial sports meet was declared open by the chief guests as they released the balloons into the air. The oath taking ceremony was led by the physical education teacher Shashikanth, in which the leaders along with their teammates pledged the oath.

This was followed by speeches by the chief guests Raymond D’Souza and Dr Ram Bairy who encouraged the students and wished them good luck. The formal programme concluded with words of gratitude from the principal Fr Anil D’Costa.

The day’s events commenced with a 100 mtr track final for the senior boys and girls wherein the winners were felicitated by the chief guests. This was followed by various other track events like 200 mtr, 400 mtr and 800 mtr for junior, sub-junior and senior categories besides basketball final match for boys and throwball finals for girls. The relay race between the 5 houses for all categories namely sub-juniors, juniors and seniors was the most thrilling event of the day.

It was indeed an enjoyable day for all the sports lovers.

Parents Sports Meet

The ‘Parents Sports Meet’ marked an exciting day in the annals of Trinity history as an excited and energetic group of parents participated in the sports meet at theTrinity campus.

The event commenced with a formal inauguration of the sports meet by Fr Anil D’Souza, parish priest of our Lady of Fathima Church, Perampalli, who was the chief guest of the day. He was accompanied by Fr Anil D’Costa principal, Fr Ravi Rajesh Serrao, the administrator, Magdelina Lewis, the academic co-ordinator and Archana Shetty, the pre-primary section head.

As Trinity Central School is on the threshold of celebrating its decennial year, the enthusiastic parents participated joyfully, marching to the rhythmic beats as well as lighting the torch symbolizing their active participation in the events. There were various events like track events of 100 mt, 200 mt for both male and female besides other individual events like shotput, lemon and spoon race. Added to that, there were team events like volleyball for men and throwball for women which made the parents vie for the coveted trophy. There were different food stalls organized by the staff of Trinity serving mouth savouring edibles which satiated the hunger of the participants.

In the afternoon lunch was sponsored by the management of the school on the occasion of its decennial celebration. On the whole, the entire Trinity was filled with asportive atmosphere with the presence of parents and children in the school campus.
