New Delhi, Dec 6 (IT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most followed world leader on Instagram. And, a photo he posted of his meeting with Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma after their wedding was the most liked photo posted by a world leader this year.
Even the second most liked photo of a world leader belonged to PM Narendra Modi. This was of him standing at a bus stop in a picturesque snowy Davos, where he attended the World Economic Forum 2018.
And, PM Narendra Modi is also the most "effective" world leader on Instagram, with every one of his 80 posts and videos from this year garnering 873,302 interactions on the photo-sharing app.
All this, according to the Twiplomacy study 2018, which is conducted by Burson-Marsteller, an international public relations and communications firm.
According to the study, Narendra Modi is the most followed leader with 14.8 million followers. Indonesian President Joko Widodo is second, and US President Donald Trump is third.
Pope Francis, Queen Rania of Jordan, and the Royal Family of the United Kingdom are some of the other Instagram accounts that figure in the list of the ten most followed world leaders.
Apart from being the most followed, PM Narendra Modi can also boast of having the most liked photos among the world's leaders.
The photo of Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli calling on Modi after their wedding was the most liked. "Not surprisingly, the picture has received 1,834,707 hearts since all three [Modi, Sharma and Kohli] have a combined following of 55 million on Instagram," the study noted.
The second most liked photo by a world leader was also by PM Narendra Modi. It was of him standing at a bus stop in Davos ahead of the World Economic Forum 2018. The photo got a total of 16,35,978 likes.
"The unusual shot illustrates that pictures which are out of the ordinary do tend to get the best engagement on the platform," the study said on this photo.
