M'lore: Palemar Requests Cooperation of Citizens in Implementing Security Measures

Mangalore, Dec 6: District in-charge minister J Krishna Palemar said on Friday December 5, that the district administration and superintendent of police have been directed to keep the police and civil defence forces on alert throughout the coastal belt, in the wake of the recent Mumbai attacks. 

Speaking to media persons at Circuit House, he said police have been inspecting vehicles in the city for the past two days. “People should co-operate with the police instead of complaining of inconvenience”, he appealed. Palemar said that the government has approved the conversion of the 2.5 km road from Bajpe airport to Maryhill bridge into a double-lane concrete road at a cost of Rs 17.5 crore. He said that approval had been secured for three commercial complexes with private partnership at old bus stand Hampankatta, Urwa Store, and Derebail Market. 

A tender of Rs 11.02 crore for asphalting the 46 km from Addahole to Amai Bridge (National Highway 48) is also under progress. Meanwhile, Rs 3.28 crore has already been sanctioned for repairing this road. The printing of 1,78,741 BPL ration cards under the ‘Anthyodaya Annayojana’, and ‘Akshaya’ plan is also under progress, added Palemar. 

MLA Yogish Bhat said that 70 per cent of road repair work in the city has been completed. Bhat said that Rs 2 crore had been sanctioned for the second phase of work on the Mangalore Court Complex. He also assured of adequate water supply in the city.
