Mangalore: ‘Human Rights Violations Should be Highlighted'

Mangalore, Dec 10: Inspector general of police A M Prasad, on Wednesday December 10, asked students to highlight incidents of human rights violations in the society to protect human dignity.

He was delivering the keynote address on ‘Human Rights and Challenges’, organized by the human rights cell, department of political science, St Agnes College, as part of Human Rights Day at Sophia block. He said, “Every human being has his own dignity. Human rights should not be violated. There are communities which have been deprived of human rights for several years in the society.”

Saying that human rights should not be denied, Prasad said that police personnel had been sensitized on the issue, and they have been trying to uphold human dignity. He added that there is discrimination in the police department. 

Principal Dr Prem D’Souza opined that the youth need to discuss human rights and propagate it. Chandrashekar, cocoordinator of the cell, was present on the occasion.

    Its funny to read this news.Inspector general of police A M Prasad, addressing people to highlight the people where the human rights is violating. But they failed to arrest the Bus Owners(who violated the Human rights) who attack the President of Nagarika Heetharakshna Vedhike.
