Daijiworld Media Network - Madikeri (SP)

Madikeri, Dec 11: Speaking to reporters after taking part in the meeting of the party's district unit held in the old assembly hall located in the old fort area of the town, state BJP president D V Sadanand Gowda said that his party does not have any opposition in the state, worth posing a semblance of challenge to it.

"Because of the people-friendly policies and programmes of our government, the people of the state will strongly back the BJP in the by-election," he said, exuding confidence. Recalling that the BJP had registered victories at the elections held to the legislative council and local bodies recently, he said that the Congress and the JDS have come together, realizing that individually, they are not able to offer any opposition to the BJP. The political gimmicks of these parties will not affect the BJP, which is deep-rooted in the state, he felt.

In reply to a question, Gowda said that the election results of north Indian states will not have any bearing on the electoral outcome here, as the assembly elections there, were fought on local issues. Analyzing the results in north India, he pointed out that the BJP had got 31 additional legislators as a whole, as compared to the previous election. He also asserted that the Loksabha election too will not be influenced by the said results.

Sadanand Gowda informed, that appointments to boards and corporations will be made after the by-poll and that some district-in-charge ministers will also be shuffled at that time. To another question, he stressed that the independent legislators who supported the government in times of crisis, will never be deserted by the party even if the BJP gets majority in the assembly on its own.
