Udupi: State Nataka Academy to Celebrate ‘Ranga Suggi’ from Feb 1

Udupi, Dec 12: The state-level ‘Ranga Suggi’ will be celebrated from Sunday February 1 to Sunday February 8. The programme will be conducted in the name of renowned theatre artiste B R Nagesh.

The ‘Ranga Suggi’ and ‘Ranga Chavadiyalondu Patanga’ should be conducted for the development of theatre performances and programmes in favour of the public, said Sukumar Mohan, member, State Nataka Academy, at a press conference on Tuesday December 9.

The academy is eager to work for the betterment and rejuvenation of the theatre, he said.

Developmental plans like conducting a four-day Natakotsava involving three districts, a theatre-training camp, unique stage training for students, urging the authorities for construction of Bayalu Ranga Mandir, and arranging ‘Tingala Tirulu’, every month in association with Kannada and cultural department, are afoot, said Mohan.

Apart from this, publishing the ‘Ranga Malike’ to introduce the artistes, celebrating Natakotsava in the name of various renowned artistes, and conducting state-level drama competition, will be implemented in the coming days, he said. Training in light direction, and celebrating world theatre day at the district- level, are also a part of future plans, added Mohan.

The academy also provides an opportunity to register names of teams in the academy, he said. Udyavar Nagesh Kumar, member, district committee, Nataka Academy, Raju Manipal, and Sudhindra Mohan Mudradi, were present.
