Beltangady, Dec 12: Mogera Samaja Seva Samiti has said that there is a strong suspicion that the unnatural death of Babu Mogera (36), son of Kurumbila from Kolpadi Mannaje of Belal village was caused through a murder plot. It has demanded an impartial inquiry into the circumstances leading to his death. In the meanwhile, Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has threatened to organize a demonstration in front of the local police station, condemning the police negligence in the case.

In a complaint filed with the police, brother of the deceased named Cheenkra had said that Babu Mogera found a packet near the Narangal bend while returning home on the night of November 27. He found soap, some biscuits and a bottle of liquor in the parcel. He gave the biscuits to children, used the soap to take bath and consumed the liquor. Within a few minutes, he died. After consuming liquor, Babu expressed doubts that some harmful substances had been mixed with it, Cheenkra said. In the complaint, he had expressed doubts that some poisonous substances had been mixed with the liquor and cited the animosity between Babu and neighbours with regard to a land dispute.

The Seva Samiti president and zilla panchayat member Babu Mogera Ernodi said that the policemen have not questioned any of the family members or those against whom doubts were expressed. He warned of launching an agitation if justice is not done to the family of the deceased.

Speaking on behalf of DYFI, Shekhar Laila said that the policemen forcibly obtained Cheenkra's signature to fabricate a separate complaint in place of the original one. Samiti office bearers, office bearers of local Yuvaka Mandal and DYFI functionaries were present at the press conference.
