Mangalore, Dec 13: As the countdown for Christmas begins all over the globe, a giant Santa Claus made by Kallacchu Team at  St Aloysius College, on Saturday December 13,is drawing the attention of people in the city.

The artistic piece made overnight by the five-member team led by Mahesh R Nayak, has used about 200 kg of natural Rangoli colour. “It is spread over approximately 1,500 sq ft. This is the sixth giant work of art made in the current year. We also had a good response from art lovers at the display of the giant world map, Olympic rings, Jog Falls, and others”, said Mahesh.










Expressing the hope that art work might bring about integrity and humanity in society, he said the giant Santa Claus was made at a cost of Rs 30,000.

Earlier, Fr Francis Serao, rector, St Aloysius College, inaugurated the art exhibition. Speaking to Daijiworld.com, he said that the art work would be a great inspiration for everybody. “Kallacchu Team has proved that different communities can still meet in the form of art. We must be thankful to the team for spreading the message of peace through art work, especially in the context of Mangalore today, which saw religious clashes recently,” he added.

K Lakshminarayan, Sangeetha M Nayak, Chandri J Achar, and Vidya J Nayak, are the other members of the Kallacchu team. The art is on display till Sunday December 14.
