Kuwait, Dec 13: Ever since its inception in 2005, AAK has been organizing several successful cultural and socio economic programmes and activities for its members, family and friends with a charity cause of striving to educate deserving girls at their Alma Mater. For the very first time, having observed the keen interest its members showed in sports activity, AAK took the initiative of organizing this sport extravaganza, which brought together several women of different regions of Indian community who shared the same passion.
The aim in organizing this event was to create a sportsmanship environment for girls and women of Indian community in Kuwait irrespective of their age, caste, creed, religion, culture & also provide them with an opportunity to showcase their talent at this sport.
On this Friday morning, we had the sun shining brightly with North Westerly winds blowing bringing in the cool winter season, which did not deter the participation of 8 teams at this tournament. The day started of with a welcome note by the AAK Vice President and Compere, Felcita D’souza, followed by introduction of the Chief Guest, Principal of Carmel School Kuwait, one of the most prestigious schools of Kuwait, Sr. Maria Lytta who was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a token of love and appreciation by Alrricq Scott.
One of the main sponsor of the event, Ivan Mendes too was called to the dias and was presented with flowers by Amanda D’souza. Thereafter the Chief Guest was requested to receive the salute from the teams as they marched into the ground with loads of elegance and poise to the drumbeats of the drummer boy, Andrew D’souza. The teams were lead by their team captains bearing flags.
AAK team was the first to march into the grounds, lead by Leena Fernandes, followed by Wild cats by Conchita Cardoz, Al Ratath – Felix’s by Nelly Crasto, Jasmine by Rashmi, Kuwait Konkans B by Jayasheela, Falcon by Flavia, Flamboyant by Arjuman and finally Kuwait Konkans A, led by Pauline Mendes.
Chief Guest and the umpires of the day Basappa and Ivan decided on one team who were at their best in marching, and the award was given out to Wild Cats.
Nicole Sequeira presented Sr. Maria Lytta the scroll which carried the Declaration & she declared the Tournament Open.
Match fixtures were done at the venue with the team managers and captains before the start of the event, the matches commenced immediately after the declaration.

Scorekeepers task was diligently carried out by Savita Pinto at the desk & Tania Pinto at the white board. Match commentary was started off by Felcita D’ouza and then taken over by Mahesh Prabhu. The ever cheerful & evergraceful cheerleaders Amanda, Tanya, Sinatra & Janet kept the teams motivated with they cheer cries and dances. “0”Zone Illuminations, Anand D’souza provided & sponsored clear n flawless sound for the event.
Presentation ceremony was compered by Mahesh Prabhu, while President, Diany Coutinho rendered the Vote of Thanks in which she expressed her sincere gratitude to Sr. Maria Lytta for accepting their invitation to preside over the event, Priests of Don Bosco school who provided their premises for the practice sessions and the ICSK authorities for providing the grounds to hold the event and all the Sponsors, donors and all those who supported the event.
Participation certificates were awarded to the teams. 2nd runners up medals were given away by Pascal Pinto, 1st Runners Up cup, sponsored by Mr.& Mrs. Stany Sanctis was given away by Mr. Ivan Mendes to Kuwait Konkans B lead by Freeda Mendes
AAK Cup, sponsored by Mr. & Mrs. John Fernandes (M/s Power Controls) was awarded by them together with Mr. Lawerence Pinto to the winners Kuwait Konkans A, lead by Pauline Mendes.
