Mangaluru, Dec 21: The countdown has begun for ‘Nathalancho Dabazo’ organised by Omzoorche Dive, supported by ICYM Omzoor, Dubai at Omzoor Church Grounds, Omzoor, Meramajalu on December 25.
The celebration will witness a live concert by international fame band ‘Band Charitra’ by its special rock desi songs performance along with dazzling dances and outstanding comedy skits.
The programme will be presided over by Fr Alwyn D’Cunha, the parish priest of Holy family Church, Omzoor.
To spread Christmas message to all communities and initiate the Bandutva concept given by Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Omzoorche Dive are uniting representatives of different communities on the stage.
Vajranabha Shetty, Dharmadarshi of Arkula Beedu, will be present as he representative of Hindu community, Mohmmed Abubakar Baddoor: popular and well-known theatre artiste and also a writer, will be present as the representative of Muslim community and Patrick Pinto, vice president of Omzoor Church parish council, will be present as the representative of the Konkani Community.
NRI Entrepreneurs James Mendonca, Joseph Mathias, and Fr Jerald Lobo from Monte Mariano Friary Farangipet, Sr Cynthia Saldanha from St Charles Borromeo Convent Omzoor, vice-president of Omzoor parish pastoral council Patrick Pinto will grace the occasion as guests of honour.
NRI Entrepreneur Benedict Pinto from Abu Dhabi will be felicitated by Omzoorche Dive during the function.
Manoj Vas and Babitha D’Souza, the president and secretary of Omzoorche Dive respectively, with other members have extended warm welcome to all for ‘Nathalancho Dabazo’.
Dazzling dances will be performed by Focal Zone Dance Company and the show also will have special comedy skits by team ‘Expressions’.
Ace compere Roshan D’Silva will compere the celebrations as well as musical concert.

The main objective of the event is to raise funds for helping needy people and education of poor children.

Omzoorche Dive
Omzoorche Dive, meaning ‘Lights of Omzoor’, an association of energetic parishioners of Omzoor based in UAE was started 10 years ago. Manoj Vas presently heads the team as President of Omzoorche Dive.
Omzoorche Dive has constantly rendered selfless service to the community in various fields. It has distributed school uniforms every year to needy children in various schools, raised fund through Omzoor Church to help poor children, provided financial help to five families to build their houses, helped many families and individuals in their medical needs, contributed to Mangalore Diocese for their post century silver jubilee projects, generously supported various communities, associations and many parishes through the generous contributions from sponsors and well-wishers.
Band Charitra
Charitra, the new generation desi rock band from India has popular audios and videos tagged to its name. It is young, energetic and is full of passion towards creativity. Each production by Band Charitra is a masterpiece.

Loy Valentine Saldanha - Music Director and Producer/Performer/Sound Engineer
A certified engineer in music production and sound design from A.R Rahman’s Institute of Audio & Media, Chennai. He started his music career at the age of 10. He initially performed in various Desi Rock Bands and now is the founder member of the desi rock band named as Band Charitra.
He has been the official composer / vocalist / music programmer / sound engineer at Charitra Productions ever since its formation.
Melwyn Antony D’souza- Lead Vocalist/Performer/Lyricist
Melwyn has pursued his degree In Carnatic music, Art Culture. Melwyn is an amazing lead Vocalist/Composer/Lyricist and with his extreme high notes, he is well known to sweep the audience off their seats and bring them to the dance floor.
Melwyn has a creativity to write lyrics, and is the official lyricist of this production house. Over the years he has written amazing lyrics and sung for several projects and jingles. He is known to lift the mood of the event with his vibrant performance and has been known in his friend circles as ‘rock star’ who also call him ‘Mika Singh of Konkani’.
Patson Pereira - Music Director & Producer / Performer /Sound Engineer
A qualified sound engineer in Music Production & Audio Technologies from SAE Institute of Audio Engineering, Malaysia.
He started music career at the age of 8. He initially started performing for various shows as a Drummer, then gradually as a keyboardist and guitarist, later performed for various bands around the globe.
Presently he is the official member of Band Charitra as a guitarist and runs his own recording studio named Patma Digitals where he is a music programmer, composer, sound engineer and vocalist. In short, he is a bundle of talents and enthusiasm and is known for his creativity.
Ian Sachin Saldanha - Drummer / Percussionist / Backing Vocalist
Sachin found his passion for music at the age of 14. In his tenure of graduation at St Aloysius College, he performed for various occasions.
He began as a session drummer in several top rock bands and has played for a number of hit shows at his early age. Sachin got his first set of drums at the age of 15 and by the age of 16, he was performing with local bands with his batch mates. He then got into Band Charitra , a desi rock band famous for mashup of Bollywood and Hollywood songs.
Rikith Leonard Soans - Bass Guitarist/Backing Vocalist
He acquired the certificate of western music (Grade 5) under Trinity College of London (TLC) in 2012.
An unsung hero from the city of UDUPI, supporting melody while syncing with the band to bring out the wonders in the world of music. Born & brought up in a family of music, his passion for music started at the age of 7.
He then started his music career performing in various rock bands since 2009. His music varies ranging from soft Ballads, Rock, Pop, and Fusion to foot tapping Baila numbers and Bollywood. Presently he is the official bassist for desi rock band Charitra.
Apart from his main musical weapon as bass, he is also well-known for playing violin, keyboards and guitar.
Akshada Talaulikar - Play Back Singer / Global Konkani Best Female Singer
Akshada acquired the art of basic singing under the able guidance of Pt Sudhakar. Currently she trains and learns from Pt Subhash Prabhudessai, a prominent music teacher in ‘Swarmanch’, Margao Goa.
She has won tremendous accolades all across, one of which is the prestigious Global Konkani Music Award from Kalaangan Mangaluru in the year 2009 as best female singer.
She has performed with various celebs like Suresh Wadkar, Pankaj Udhas, Jagjit Singh, Mika Singh, and many others.
Joseph Mathias – Guest Vocalist
The renowned entrepreneur is also a well-known singer, film actor and very well known for soft spoken nature.
Joseph Mathias began as a child singing hymns with his mother at home, in the church and thereafter sang and won trophies and accolades in various singing competitions in the city.
He got his first break at a programme organized by Konkani Association in Dubai and from then on, gained recognition as a singer. He has also rendered his voice for several musical albums and has been honoured by several Konkani associations for his selfless services.
Sabita Mathias – Guest Vocalist
A natural singer with a beautiful golden voice, hails from Udupi. She has been trained under Konkani’s music pundit Jossie Moras at his institute called Melodia and proudly addresses him as her music guru.
She has secured a degree in music from Trinity college of Music – London.
An engineer by profession, Sabita won Gulf Voice of Mangalore – Season 6, a talent hunt show.
‘The Expressions’, the comedy team
‘The Expressions’, hailing from Barkur, is popular for their rib tickling comedy. They are the finalists of ‘Hasyancho Pavs’ and also winners of many reality shows and comedy shows. They have given their best performance in Qatar during the GVOM semifinals.
