Mangaluru, Dec 22: Lourdes Central School celebrated a joy and happiness filled Christmas in the most unique way under the caption 'He is the reason for this celebration'.

The Lourdites gathered with excitement on the LCS grounds on December 22. The dignitaries Fr Wilson Vitus D’souza, Fr Robert D’souza, principal, vice-principal Belita Mascarenhas, Cony Saldhana, secretary Parish Parishad Council, Roman D’souza were present on the occasion which truly doubled the joy of the Lourdite family.

The welcome address was delivered by Austin D’cunha of class XI, followed by the significance of the day by Sanjana Lobo. The students of kindergarten and primary section were later honoured with prizes by the dignitaries for excelling in various competitions held in connection with Christmas.

The principal while addressing the gathering said, "As we celebrate the birth of Christ, let us respect the dignity of every humanbeing. We desperately need peace in the world so let us have peace within ourselves so that we can spread the message of Christ all over the world." He then thanked God for protecting and blessing us throughout the year and wished good luck and prosperity for the New Year 2019.

Fr Wilson Vitus D’souza manager, LCS also delivered his valuable message by saying that we need to overcome our differences and that our heart should be pure to rejoice in the birth of Jesus. "Remember to follow him as He practiced what He preached and preached what He practiced so that we can enjoy the happiness of Christmas."

The true meaning of Christmas was depicted through a skit portraying acceptance of one another and to be humble thus rejuvenating our spirits.

The audience was entertained by a dance, Christmas medley and live Christmas crib.

The students were mesmerised by the arrival of Santa at the end of the programme.

Clea of class X thanked the dignitaries, the teachers and students who were responsible to make this day a memorable one.
