Mangalore: Two Arrested for Three Separate Temple Theft Cases

Mangalore, Dec 16: Barke police on Monday December 15 arrested two persons in connection with three separate temple theft cases. They also recovered idols and gold ornaments worth Rs 75,000.


The accused have been identified as Kala from Haveri, and Dileep from Kurubara Oni, Ranibennur. The idols as well as silver and gold ornaments used in worship, were stolen from Ujjodi Kordabbu temple, Kubevooru Kordabbu temple, Kilapadi village, and Moorugolu Haklooru temple, Byndoor.




According to the police, the two were released from prison only three months ago.

    The only thing I wanted to know from this article was the names of the accused. Since the names did not convey either christian or Muslim origin, I knew this theft and subsiquent arrest would not generate any enthusiasm, interest or comments from the general public.
