Bangalore, Dec 16: Chief minister Dr B S Yeddyurappa announced here on Monday December 15, that a high level investigation would be ordered into the alleged irregularities in implementing the scheme of waiving farm loans.

"I have been informed that irregularities running into about Rs 200 crore have been committed in implementing the loan waiver scheme. A detailed investigation alone can bring out full facts about the alleged irregularities. I want a detailed investigation into what actually has transpired. However, a final decision would be taken after holding discussions in the cabinet meeting," Yeddyurappa said.

The statistics reveal that the incidents of suicide by farmers have been on the rise. The government will do everything possible within its control to mitigate the problems of the farmers. Within the ambit of its financial limitations, it will work to help them, the chief minister said, adding that invigorating the farm sector that is hit by one or the other problem, is the top priority of the government.

The chief minister exuded confidence, that his party will win all the assembly seats, for which by-polls will be held shortly. "I will involve myself with electioneering work from tomorrow onwards," he stated.
