Bodies of Kashmiri labourers killed in Uttarakhand flown home


Srinagar, Dec 23 (IANS): The bodies of seven Kashmiri labourers killed in a landslide in Uttarakhand were on Sunday flown to their homes in Uri in Baramulla district.

"On the instructions of Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik, the bodies were this morning flown by a special chopper from Jammu to their native place Uri.

"The Government has also released ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.

"Seven labourers were killed and three others injured (all from Uri) when they came under a landslide while working on a road project in Rudarprayag district on Friday," an official statement said.
