Karkala: Refusal to consume midday meal - head teacher beats up student

Daijiworld Media Network - Karkala (SP)

Karkala, Dec 24: A woman has complained to the police, alleging that the head teacher of a school at Belady in Kantavara village in the taluk hit her son with a stick and injured him for not willing to consume midday meal served at the school.

Aneesh (6) , son of Krishna Kotian and Renuka from Belady happens to be a first standard student of the aided higher primary school at Belady. Aneesh reportedly was administered deworming tablets on December 22 morning. He was therefore a little unwell and wanted to have food brought from home.

Head teacher of the school, Suresh S R, it is said, rejected the boy's proposal to have home food, and insisted that he should have hot meal prepared at school during the lunch hour. When Aneesh showed reluctance to obey his words, the head teacher reportedly took the boy to another room, strictly told him to have midday meal, and injured his back by repeatedly hitting him with a stick, Renuka, mother of Aneesh, said in a complaint.

A complaint about this incident has been registered in rural police station here. The police are investigating.

Not in this age ,still beating students? There are some notorius teachers mostly men in villages ,even in this age beat students.Didnt we hear sometime back somewhere in North a student deid after haevy beating from a female teacher? Now it is not allowed but to some it matters little. With beating you cant bring everything right .There are students who are a bit bold and fighting manner. They should be taught i by using some psychological ways, but not with hardcore. In my school days we had a teacher who had no children and used to beat students ,was a tough master.everybody used to be afraid of him .when students were at board writing he,used to give a beat with closed faust.for children it used to be a yamana guddu.Hard.we used to tell may be he didnt have children so was angry with children. It was govt school.Police must take action on him .student can refuse to eat school meal it is his wish.Afterall teacher is not paying for it.may be the meal also was simply not tasty as one wants.

Teachers only have got education. They also need to learn good ethics too. I am well educated and came across several teachers but found very few with ethical values. Some even do not know the difference between good and bad.

Is he ekopadya school Mukyopadyaya?? Gone are those days where you could beat children...not even your own!! In my school days teachers used to beat students(isolated cases) to take revenge on parents too....! There is positive and negative sides of beating children which lasted until late eighties.....!!

Corporal punishment/teacher beating student for a valid cause is fine in my opinion....

If you hit gold ...it will shine more...Shankar is a living example for it...

Unfortunately ...I don't remember any teacher beating me....during my School days it was very common...

Any way it made Shankar good citizen....perhaps this boy too...

    ...Tak...Takk...

The boy was not well that is why he brought food from home. He has not done any mistake but our Ministers and Political leaders can take treatment in foreign countries.!!!!!!. Why can't they take treatment in Government hospitals? Same way the boy took food from home.

Head teacher must have had a bad argument with wife and started the day with bad temperament or bad head ache due to overdose.

Unfortunately unlike earlier days, the teachers from good background don't get a chance to secure the jobs in government or aided schools and most of these jobs are filled out on caste reservations. Therefore, don't expect the standards that were prevailing during earlier days. Leave alone the culture and discipline, some of these teachers can't even spell the difficult names of the students.

When the boy repeatedly told that he is not well, then why the teacher has taken that step. Any how the Police must investigate thoroughly in this case.

It is totally unacceptable that a school meant for spreading knowledge can show this kind of behavior to a 6 year innocent boy.

In school days, I don't think there was even one week where I di d not get beatings from teachers. More over, there will be additional free beatings from parents as soon as they hear the news.
I think those beatings have made me to enjoy a comfortable disciplined life now.

Amit ji i think you missed that ultra beating or else you to would have been disciplined. It very wrong to comment without knowing the fact from both the sides. Now a days children's are ultra smart they know all the knacks how to play safe. Its better to wait and then comment after knowing the fact from both the sides.
