Mangalore: Fr James Niravath Gets Special Honour from Austrian Linz Diocese

Mangalore, Dec 17: Fr James Niravath OCD is given an exceptional honour from the diocese of Linz in Austria. He is given the honorary title, 'Bischöflichen Geistlichen Rat' (Spiritual Councillor of the Diocese).

It is an honorary title given for the admirable service rendered to the diocese, especially in the field of spiritual renewal in the parishes, to different groups and retreat centres. This is for the first time a honour of this type is given to a non-European national. This title is confirmed on him officially by the diocese on Wednesday December 10 in a meeting of the diocesan curia.

At present he is serving the Austrian Carmelite Province as the Prior of the Provincial house and the Rector of the Carmelite Church in Linz.
