Terror attack on Libyan Foreign Ministry HQ kills 3

Tripoli, Dec 25 (IANS): At least three people were killed and 10 others including a paramedic, were injured in a terror attack on the Libyan Foreign Ministry's headquarters in the capital on Tuesday, officials said.

The incident took place in the morning when a car bomb exploded right behind the Ministry's building, a government official told Xinhua news agency.

Afterwards, a group of gunmen entered the building from the front and back entrances and exchanged heavy fire with the security forces, the official added. One of the killed was an employee of the Ministry.

There was also a huge explosion in the main building, triggering a fire. No group has claimed responsibility for the strike.

The Foreign Ministry condemned the attack and called on the international community to support Libya against terrorism.

In September, the Islamic state militants attacked the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation in the centre of Tripoli, killing two and injuring several others.
