'Stop posing for cameras, save miners trapped for 2 weeks': Rahul to PM Modi

New Delhi, Dec 26 (PTI): Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday made a fervent appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to save 15 people trapped in a flooded coal mine in Meghalaya since December 13, alleging the government was not organising high-pressure pumps for the rescue operation.

He accused PM Modi of instead posing for cameras and strutting on the Bogibeel bridge on the mighty Brahmaputra river in neighbouring Assam after inaugurating it on Tuesday.

"15 miners have been struggling for air in a flooded coal mine for two weeks. Meanwhile, PM struts about on Bogibeel Bridge posing for cameras. His government refuses to organise high-pressure pumps for the rescue. PM please save the miners," Gandhi tweeted.

The Congress chief said this amid reports that the operation to rescue the 15 miners is hampered by lack of equipment.

The miners were trapped after water from the nearby Lytein river suddenly gushed into the pit.

A senior Meghalaya home department official has said the police force in East Jaintia Hills district, where the mine is located, do not have adequate personnel to deal with the problem.

    Abe Ho Akkal ke Dushman, Rahul Gandhi neither a PM nor Congress government is in Meghalaya !!! If a leader should go to Meghalaya to help miners why don't you ask from your Chaddi party??? There are many leaders in that party!!! Atleast you can request Shobakka and DK's Fireman to go to Meghalaya immediately please!!!!

    Disagrees admits that you dont agree that RAGA is not a leader. Leader, especially youth leaders have some qualities. True leaders always happy to protect team members and take the responsibilities before you ask. They never wait for chaddi or naada.

    I am sure if Rahul Gandhi was Prime Minister he would have made sure that these miners are brought out safely . He wouldn't have even waved to bystanders and would have spent days and nights at the site.

    In Thailand when the boys got trapped in the cave , their govt did everything they could do to save the boys and finally managed to save them, they got all the professionals , expertise etc from outside countries just to save them, unfortunately in our country cow has more value than human being.
