New Delhi: Furore in Parliament over A R Antulay's Remarks

New Delhi, Dec 18: Union Minister A R Antulay was in the eye of a storm in Parliament on Thursday with the Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena members demanding his sacking in the wake of his statement on the killing of Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare.

"By his irresponsible statement, Antulay has created a problem for the country," BJP member Santosh Gangwar said in the Lok Sabha raising the issue amid cries of 'shame, shame' from the opposition members.

The controversy had its echo in the Rajya Sabha too with a BJP member objecting to the 'irresponsible' remarks. He was supported by Janata Dal-United, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and some opposition members.

Despite Speaker Somnath Chatterjee seeking to pacify members in Lok Sabha saying that the minister had issued denial and had made it clear that Karkare was killed by terrorists, BJP-Shiv Sena members were in no mood to relent.

BJP member Yogi Adityanath even made some objectionable remark against the Minister, who was sitting in the House, but it was immediately expunged by the Speaker amid protests from some Congress members.

"You cannot abuse an MP like this," he said, strongly condemning the BJP member's remark.

With the opposition members demanding a statement from the prime minister on the Antulay issue, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi said: "Government will examine the statement and respond accordingly."

Antulay had on Wednesday raised doubts over the killing of Karkare by Pakistani terrorists, suggesting a link with the Malegaon blast that was being investigated by him.

As my personal view Mr. Antulay is right, as a responsible politician, he should see both the angle in this case, as we indians need impartial enquiry about this case... why BJP and Shivsena rise there voice, they dont have right becoz they are supporting suspected terrorist in malegoan blast. also they are protesting agaist Shaheed Mr.Karkare.

I agree with Mr. Sharief. We as commom people cannot make our voice heard as could Mr. Antulay. Being a parliamentarian, he did his duty. Why rub off your shoulder at the mention of missing ash-pumpkin ?

MR. A. R. Antuley has casted doubt in the killing of all the three impartial top most Cops and requested investigation. He has expressed free speech in the Lock Sabah as an M.P. There is nothing wrong in conducting investigation. Why the opposition are egregious because they didn’t like those truthful and impartial Cops.

When a shoot-out takes place, a vital evidence is the bullet. At-least one of the three killed officers will have had one bullet on their body when post-mortem carried out ? Why can't it be cross-checked with the one the terrorists' guns contained ? There must be some matching ? If they differ, Antulay is right. If they are same his doubt is clear ??

a r antulay should be thrown into arabian sea. India will never succeed in fight against terrorism if minister like a r antulay are ready to support pakistan. whole world watched 60 hour drama & whole world pin pointing pakistan muslim terrorist for mumbai attack. a r antulay lives in India & takes all benefits form India thru minority tag but favours pakistan & terrorists. there are crores of people who supports ar antulay is dangerous sign for India.
