Taliban attack repulsed, 8 militants killed in Afghanistan


Kabul, Dec 26 (IANS): An attack launched by Taliban militants to overrun Almar district in Afghanistan's Faryab province was repulsed and eight militants were killed, local media reported on Wednesday.

The well coordinated offensive was launched on Tuesday at 6 a.m. and lasted for six hours but failed to gain ground. As a result, the attacking militants fled, leaving behind eight bodies, Xinhua news agency reported.

Five others were injured in the attack. Taliban militants have not commented on it yet.
