Daijiworld Media Network - Karwar (MS)

Karwar, Dec 29: In an ugly incident that went to the extent of fist fight occurred in the famous Mahabaleshwara temple on the night of Friday, December 28 at Gokarna near here, which is famous as the Kashi of south.

The reason for the scuffle was the dress code worn by the members of a family that arrived from Maharashtra. The women in the group were wearing chudidars and pants. The temple dress code says that the women should wear sarees while entering the temple premises.

The family members were stopped the security gate of the temple. They were told that only men who wear panche and women who wear sarees are allowed inside the temple premises. The members of the family, who got infuriated by this, went near the counter of the temple and entered into argument that went to the extent of fist fight.

The police intervention brought the situation under control.

Later the family submitted an apology letter at the police station and asked for forgiveness of the temple administration.

Of course the family arrived there may not be knowing the rules of this temple.Instead of argueing and making a big drama of that, for once ,can be forgive and by next can be done as per rule.Afterall maharashtrians visit temple with chudidaar.whether Sari or chudidhar, its not half naked.chudidhar is I find a respectful enough.Whereas temple priests wear looks quite half naked and oed.

Did anybody force them to go to the temple?
If they want to enter, you follow the rules.
If you dont want to follow the rules, you can go away.

Its decision of the temple management
    Can't fight in such matters
Even temples can think of modifying the rules for chudidar as it is a complete wear
