UP woman stripped, thrashed for resisting sexual harassment: police

Bhadohi (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 30(PTI): A woman was beaten up, stripped and made to run naked in her village in Gopiganj area of the Bhadohi district of Uttar Pradesh for resisting sexual harassment, police said on Sunday.

Police have registered a case against four men involved in the incident and one of them has been arrested, said Circle Officer Yadavendra Yadav.

"The incident took place in a village in Gopiganj area of the district on Saturday, when a woman from the weavers' community objected to being sexually harassed by one of the men, Lal Chandra Yadav. Later, in the evening, Yadav and three men with him forcibly entered her house and badly beat her up."

 

"They stripped off her clothes and made her run in the village. Some villagers shot the incident and its video subsequently went viral," he added

Circle Officer Yadav said the woman is undergoing treatment at a hospital and a case has been filed against all four men.

"One accused has been arrested, while efforts are on to arrest rest of the culprits," he said.

    At one point, he shared a stage with a supporter who said that when Yogi Adityanath came to power, Muslims would no longer have the right to vote and that supporters would rape dead Muslim women.

    His campaign promises included "anti-Romeo squads" to "prevent harassment of Hindu women" and he listed protecting cows and shutting down illegal slaughterhouses as his top priorities.

    This is the same Savarkar whose portrait was placed in parliament under the stewardship of the BJP and whom Modi referred to as ‘a true patriot.’ Savarkar’s call for rape as a political weapon still finds open resonance among communal fanatics. Yogi Adityanath, now the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, once made a speech threatening to “convert a hundred Muslim girls for every 1 Hindu girl that ‘they’ take.” Members of Adityanath’s Hindu Yuva Vahini have openly called for the exhumation and rape of dead Muslim women. In Gujarat in 2002, Delhi 1984 and Muzaffarnagar in 2013, rape was used as a weapon against minority women.

    Why always BJP ruled states protect, defend, honour and promote criminals. Since Yogi took office these crimes, scams, lynching and corruption has been given special preference by BJP govt. Gujrat model of development is quite visible.

    bro don't give your conclusion so easy..its the society we have to change and modi or yogi no one could save us from our inner filth....if you want to take it on political level think why they didnt get good education , behavior and respect for woman... was it because of past 4 years ?
