Four policemen sacked after their weapons go missing

Srinagar, Dec 31 (IANS): Four policemen deployed as guards with a Congress legislator in Jammu and Kashmir from whose residence four weapons went missing a day earlier were dismissed from service on Monday.

A police spokesman said: "Four personal security guards (PSOs) deployed with (Congress legislator) Muhammad Muzaffar Parray have been dismissed from service for dereliction of duty and unauthorized absence."

The four weapons went missing on Sunday from the guard room of the legislator's official residence in Jawahar Nagar area of Srinagar.

In September, a special police officer (SPO) deputed with a PDP MLA had escaped with seven rifles and a pistol from the MLA's official residence in the same area.
