Four Andhra students on way for New Year celebrations killed


Vijayawada, Dec 31 (IANS): Four students on their way to take part in New Year celebrations were killed and three others injured when a car in which they were travelling hit the road divider and rammed into a truck in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur district on Monday, police said.

The incident occurred on the Guntur-Chilkaluripeta highway when they were on their way to Vijayawada. The victims were second year engineering students of a private college.

According to police, the car which was being driven at very high speed hit the divider and then hit the truck from the rear.

Such was the impact of the collision that the truck also overturned. The truck driver and cleaner were injured. The car was badly mangled.

The deceased and injured students were all aged under 20 years. The injured were shifted to the government hospital in Guntur.
