Northern Army Commander briefs J&K Governor on security situation


Jammu, Jan 1 (IANS): Northern Army Commander, Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh on Tuesday briefed state Governor Satya Pal Malik on the latest security situation in the state.

An official statement said the Army Commander, who recently visited the forward areas and the hinterland in both Valley and Jammu region, called on Governor Malik at the Raj Bhawan in Jammu on Tuesday.

"Lt. Gen Ranbir Singh briefed the Governor about the prevailing security situation along the forward areas and the hinterland, operational preparedness of the Army for anti-militant activities and measures being taken for ensuring safety and security of people living along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB)," the statement said.
