Rajya Sabha sees repeated adjournments, to meet at 2 p.m.

New Delhi, Jan 2 (IANS): The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday saw repeated adjournments amid sloganeering by AIADMK members and was adjourned to meet again at 2 p.m.

The AIADMK members, who have been protesting against a proposed dam on the Cauvery river in Karnataka, trooped to the Chair's podium as soon as the House met for the day.

They were holding placards and shouting slogans. Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu identified the agitating members by their names and told them not to force him to take action.

He tried to go ahead with the Zero Hour but the din continued. Naidu then adjourned the House for 15 minutes.

When the House met at 11.40 a.m., it was again adjourned till noon.

Again, as the Question Hour began at 12, the agitating MPs refused to relent and continued shouting slogans. The Chair then adjourned the House till 2 p.m.
