Omar says Mehbooba Mufti visits militant families to retrieve her battered image

Srinagar, Jan 3 (IANS): Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday accused Mehbooba Mufti of ordering killings of militants when in power and now visiting their families to seek votes in the next elections.

Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday visited the family of a recently slain militant in Shopian district.

Earlier this week, she visited another slain militant's family in Pulwama district.

Taking to his twitter handle on Thursday, Omar Abdullah wrote, "The architect of "Operation All-out" and the overseer of the operations that killed hundreds of militants since 2015 is now going from one militant home to the next trying to rehabilitate a badly damaged reputation".

In yet another comment, Omar wrote, "She used militants by sanctioning their deaths to appease the BJP and now she uses dead militants to try to appease the voter. Just how gullible does she think people are?"

During her Thursday's visit Mufti demanded that families of slain militants should not be harassed.

Following a similar statement of harassment of a slain militant's family last week by Mufti, State Governor Satya Pal Malik ordered a probe into the allegation levelled by her.
