Mangaluru, Jan 3: The traditional Rama - Lakshmana Jodukere Kambala will be held on January 13 at slushy field of Gold Finch city under the aegis of Capt Brijesh Chowta.
Addressing media here on Thursday, January 3, President of Mangaluru Kambala Samithi Capt Brijesh Chowta said," This is the second year we are organising Rama - Lakshmana Jodukere Kambala. Last time around we have full-fledged support for the Kambala and this time we are back on January 13 to organise it in Gold Finch city.
"Over 100 pairs are expected to take part in the 100 metre track at slushy field and ready for a run. Kambala will be held in six categories such as Negilu (Junior) section, Hagga (junior) section, Negilu (senior) section, Hagga (junior) section, Kane Halage and Adda Halage. The winners of Kane Halage, Hagga and Negilu (senior) will be awarded with 2 sovereign and runner up will awarded with 1 sovereign of gold, while winners of Adda Halage, Hagga, Negilu (junior) section will be awarded with 1 sovereign of gold and runner up will be awarded with half sovereign of gold, said Brijesh Chowta.
"The Rama - Lakshmana Kodukere Kambala will be inaugurated by president of Sri Brahma Baidharkala Garadi temple, K Chittaranjan, presided over by mayor Bhaskar Moily, former MLC Ganesh Karnik, pro chancellor Nitte University Dr Shantharam Shetty, deputy mayor K Mohammed and others will be the guest of honor, said Brijesh Chowta.
He also said, “The guest for evening formal function will be Managing director of MRG group, K Prakash Shetty, former chief minister B S Yedyurappa, union minister D V Sadananda Gowda, district-in-charge minister U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Udupi MP Shobha Karandhlaje, MLA's Vedavyas Kamath, Sanjeev Matandoor, Rajesh Naik, S Angara, Dr Bharath Y Shetty, Harish Poonja and others will grace the occasion.
Prize distribution ceremony will be held on January 14, which will be presided by Zilla Panchayat President Kasturi Panja. Main judges for the event will be retired principal of Jaina PU College Moodabidiri, K Gunapaala Kadamba and general secretary district Kambala committee Rajeev Shetty Yedthoor, concluded Capt Brijesh Chowta.
Working president of Mangaluru Kambala samithi Nithin Shetty, General Secretary Ullal Nandan Mallya, Sujith Prathap, chief organisers Sachin Shetty, vice president Joylus D’Souza and others were present.
