Mangaluru, Jan 7: IPS officer, Madhukar Shetty, who passed away at Hyderabad, was not infected with H1N1 as is popularly being believed, based on media reports. He was suffering from a serious heart problem known as Aortic Aneurysm, This was stated by Dr Mahabalesh Shetty, head of the department of forensic science, Nitte University, who happened to be a close friend of Madhukar Shetty.
Mahabalesh clarified that Aortic Aneurysm is an ailment which can be as deadly as a stroke, about which Madhukar was not aware for long.

"He was not infected by any kind of fever. For H1N1, surgery is not a method of treatment. He was operated for Aortic Aneurysm, a highly complicated surgery during which procedure the patient looses large amount of blood. Madhukar was close to me, as both of us hail from the same village. He also spoke to me over phone. His family members too told me about his death having been caused by the above disease," he explained.
At the same time, Mahabalesh Shetty felt that Madhukar, who was duty-conscious, failed to take proper care of his own health.
