Question Hour in LS concludes smoothly

New Delhi, Jan 9 (IANS): The Question Hour on Tuesday concluded without any disruption and as many as five questions were answered by the government.

It was the first day in the winter session of Parliament that witnessed the smooth functioning of the Question Hour.

During the Question Hour, the members raised concerns about depletion of fish in the coastal area problems regarding fishing in deep sea, empowering the 'divyang' in sports, FDI's impact on food processing sector and excessive deployment of the Central forces in
various states.

Since the commencement of the winter session on December 11, the Opposition has been raising various issues, including Congress' demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Rafale fighter jets deal, TDP's demand for a special status to Andhra Pradesh and AIADMK's demand for withdrawal of the proposal to construct a dam across the Cauvery river at Mekedatu, leading to disruptions forcing the Speaker to adjourn the proceedings during Question Hour.
